With nearly two decades of experience as a dedicated educator, I have built a career grounded in fostering growth, resilience, and excellence in others. I hold a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, which have provided a strong foundation in both subject knowledge and pedagogy. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Education with an emphasis on Athletic Leadership, expanding my expertise in guiding student-athletes toward both academic and personal success. Over the years, I have embraced multiple coaching opportunities that have deepened my understanding of team dynamics, motivation, and performance. My passion lies in exploring mindsets and optimal human functioning—how individuals can unlock their potential through positivity, purpose, and perseverance. Above all, I am inspired to inspire others—to help them believe in their abilities, embrace challenges, and strive for continuous improvement.
My training philosophy is not static; it is continually changing and evolving as I gain experience and knowledge in the field. One of the best aspects of coaching is that it matters, which also transcends into the hardest aspect. I have been immersed in sport my entire life. I was raised as a multi-sport athlete, participating in a variety of sports. In high school, I funneled my passion for sport into three competitive areas: volleyball, fastball and hockey. Once I graduated high school, I needed to commit to my scholarship sport, which ultimately was hockey. I played for both the RDC Queens (winning the ACAC Championship) and the U of L Pronghorns. My undergraduate experience was littered with memories in both the classroom and the arena. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Positive Coaching and Athletic Leadership. It is providing me with a platform for immense learning, collaboration with other sport experts, and the opportunity to reflect and fine-tune my dynamic approach to sport, and life in general.
Preparation is key in player development. Coaches win practices, players win games. It is essential for coaches to develop their practices with purpose, incorporating drills with intention. It is also the coach’s responsibility to foster a cohesive team culture, developing expectations early and providing opportunities for connection and support. I am an advocate of nurturing a growth mindset – motivating athletes with short and long term goals. Fundamental sport specific skills need to be modelled, dissected, practiced, and repeated. We practice through a small lens in order to play games looking at the big picture.
My personal training philosophy is built around the foundation of high expectations, high support. I strive to challenge my athletes to push past their potential, ensuring they are provided the tools, support and sense of belonging to flourish. I believe to my core that we have all been placed on this Earth to serve and share our gifts. I hope to serve those around me with the knowledge, insights, relationships and experiences I have gained along the way.
